Match reports 04/03/17
Warrington women's second team beat Timperley fifths 5-0 to maintain their push for promotion from Cheshire Division 4. Warrington were in command from the start and ripped through the Timperley defence with some well worked goals. Player of the match Molly Rudd scored twice, Emma Frew once and another two goals from Tammy Finlayson. The women's first team found themselves 2-0 down after a poor first half against Alderley Edge thirds. Sarah Gregson and player of the match Gillian Holcroft both impressed from the full back positions, making a series of crucial tackles and turning defence into attack. Warrington created chances in the second half through Kate Connolly and Marian Taig but couldn't quite find the back of the net. The men's second team came up against a strong South Manchester first team who were determined to avenge their defeat to Warrington earlier in the season. Richard Bloomfield put in an excellent performance in goal to keep the score down to 4-0 while AJ Edwards and Chris Ashworth worked hard in midfield.
