Match reports 25/11/17

Warrington women's first team fought back from a 2-0 first half deficit to draw 2-2, taking home a well-deserved point for the first time in a tough few weeks. Quick counter attacking play from Winnington Park had allowed them to score two goals despite Warrington having many of the best chances. Straight after half time, Player of the Match Emma McCue won a short corner with a run down the right, which Marian Taig deflected in at the far post. Meg Sutch, Sally Froggatt and Louise Unsworth linked up well together as Warrington piled on the pressure and Kate Connolly brought them level with a bullet-like strike from another short corner. The women's second team pressed from the start against Buckley and went ahead when Becky Miller slotted home at the back post. Buckley nearly made it 1-1 from a short corner but an excellent save from Tish Edwards kept them ahead. Player of the Match Vicky Stout scored a great solo goal and Rebecca Wells celebrated her first goal for the club after Molly Rudd's strike hit the post. The men's first team found it tough going against a strong Liverpool John Moore's University and were indebted to keeper Rich Bloomfield for some great saves to help them avoid a heavier defeat. Simon Mason, Scott Reid and Scott McCue battled hard in defence and Doug Samuels made some great attacking runs. Adam Garrod , Doug Samuels and Ben Vickers scored for Warrington to keep the scoreline respectable.
