Match report 27/01/18

Warrington men's seconds had two wins in three days as they caught up on a previously frozen off fixture against Neston under the floodlights on Thursday and then beat Runcorn on Saturday. Andy Gould scored a hat-trick while Gavin Brown and Noal Phillpotts also found the back of the net in a 5-0 win over Neston. They made hard work of securing victory against a very good Runcorn 3s side whilst missing a few key players but Man of the Match Jake Galvin was outstanding. Gavin Brown scored the first after some pinball in the Runcorn defence with Mark Hooper scoring a penalty stroke to make it 2-0 at half time. Matt Petitt's quick thinking put Warrington 3-0 up and Runcorn scored a consolation just before the end. The men's first team suffered a disappointing defeat against University of Liverpool in an end to end game. Warrington created enough chances to win and Ben Vickers was on the scoresheet twice but it wasn't enough as they lost 4-2.

The women's first team weren't so succesful in their double header weekend, losing 4-0 away at Rhyl and 3-0 at home to Oxton. Carrie Wright and Holly McCurrie defended strongly while Nat Lyons supported Meg Sutch attacking down the right and depite heroic efforts all round they couldn't prevent the goals going in. The women's second team also had a bad day, going down 6-1 against Triton seconds.
