Match reports 10/03/18

Warrington men's seconds dominated the game against Chester sixth team to win 5-1. Chris Lyon scored the first after Gavin Brown's shot rebounded off the post and Noal Phillpotts put them further ahead with a sweet strike from the edge of the D. Rob Batey held Warrington's defence firm while Richard Taylor scored from a well worked short corner and Brown bagged a brace as he finished off two of Warrington's many excellent passing moves. The women's seconds lost 4-2 to Buckley despite skillful goals from Molly Rudd and Vicky Stout bringing them to half time at 2-2. Hannah Chamley nearly saved a penalty flick on her debut in goal and Buckley sneaked another couple of goals in the second half whilst Warrington couldn't convert their chances.

Warrington's first teams both fought bravely but suffered heavy defeats at the hands of oppositions much higher than them in the league. The women fell 6-0 to Winnington Park and need to overhaul a 4 point deficit with only two games to go if they are to avoid relegation to Division 2. Holly McCurrie and Carrie Wright did their best to turn defence into attack with some purposeful runs forward while Steph Rawlins and Kirsty Anderson pulled off numerous key tackles and Tracy Jackson some top class saves to keep the score down. Strong defending from Nick Bottomley and a determined performance from Iain Richards in central midfield couldn't prevent the men losing 11-2 to second placed Liverpool John Moores University.
