Warrington men's first team ended the season on a high with a win over Didsbury fourths on Saturday and a draw away at Blackpool on Sunday. Nick Bottomley opened the scoring against Didsbury and a short corner strike from Ben Vickers gave them a 2-1 half time lead. Didsbury equalised immediately after the re-start but that only spurred Warrington into action with some fantastic aerial passing helping Matt Petitt put them back ahead and Ben Vickers complete a hat-trick to ensure a 5-2 win. Warrington were proud to be the opposition in Blackpool Hockey Club's last ever game but found themselves 1-0 down at half time. Despite an injury taking them down to ten players, Warrington equalised through a great deflected finish from Andy Gould with his back to goal.
The men's seconds lost their final game 6-1 but still comfortably finished second in the division and now await news from the North West Hockey League on whether they will be promoted. Noal Phillpotts scored an outstanding individual goal in what was otherwise a challenging game against Wrexham. The women's firsts lost 5-0 away at Northop Hall and finished second bottom in Division 1 despite some heroic team performances throughout the season, particulaly from keeper Tracy Jackson and sweeper Carrie Wright. The women's seconds lost twice in their rearranged midweek games, firstly to Alderley Edge when Tracy Jackson and the defence did well to keep the score to 2-0 and then 2-0 against second placed Sale where Vicky Stout led them in some great passing hockey but couldn't find the back of the net.
