Match reports 20/10/18

Both Warrington's first teams scored late equalisers to ensure a share of the spoils in their games this weekend. The men played some excellent hockey against Leyland & Chorley and had most of the best chances but still found themselves behind. The defence looked much more solid with Simon Mason back in the middle and keeper Roger Parr making some important saves. Just as it looked like a goal would elude them all game, Adam Garrod scored with a thunder strike from a short corner to secure a point. The women had the best of the first half against Timperley thirds but couldn't find the back of the net and went behind shortly after half time when the otherwise unbeatable Tracy Jackson was lobbed from top D. Nat Lyons defended heroically to keep the deficit to one and linked up well with Sally Fraser and Kate Connolly down the left to set up Emma McCue for an equaliser shortly before the final whistle.

The women's seconds had an evenly matched first half against Timperley and were unlucky to go in to the break 1-0 down. Player of the match, goalkeeper Tish Edwards worked well with defenders Vicky Stoll and Laura Page to make numerous saves from the attacking Timperley before they eventually broke through to score four goals in quick succession. Sally Froggatt pulled one goal back for Warrington, making the final score 5-1. The men's seconds started poorly against a good Neston side and conceded two early goals. Chris Ashworth scored after the break as Warrington put a press on and were unlucky not to score an equaliser from a great chance. Ed Pugh made an impressive debut but it wasn't Warrington's day as they conceded two late goals on the counter attack to lose 4-1.
